RACHEL
Rachel creates vibrant, abstract paintings full of emotion and joy. Using acrylic paint and mediums such as ink, charcoal, spray paint, oil sticks, and plaster, Rachel builds up multiple layers on canvas over time. Within these layers are “ugly parts,” scrapes and blemishes that later get covered and transformed, often eventually becoming something beautiful. Fundamentally, Rachel’s paintings contain authentic expression filled with her love and good energy.
Growing up in Virginia Beach, Rachel enjoyed drawing beach babes, bikini-clad socialite-types or models, in the latest Chanel trends. She then earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and later moved to Washington, DC to pursue a career in fashion advertising. As an art director, Rachel worked with high-end department stores and major brands such as Ralph Lauren and Estée Lauder.
Having always kept a hand in painting, Rachel recently returned to it wholeheartedly and is now a full-time artist. Her work has been sold to collectors across the country and she often creates commissions from her studio in Gaithersburg, MD.
